Deal with Sharmaine

I had a deal with Sharmaine. If I lose, I’ll treat her a whole Yellow Cab pizza.

So here’s the deal. If I don’t finish putting lyrics, album art, artist in every single song in my 30 gigabyte i-Pod classic. Then I lose.

Another deal was if I do not pass the University of the Philippines’ College Admissions test, then she would treat me one whole Yellow Cab pizza. If I pass, then I would be the one who would treat her.

I feel like I am going to lose. Oh well, a deal is a deal.

Anyways, deals and contracts are a really important matters. Most especially in businesses. Once your signature is on the bottom, you have to follow all the things that was written in the paper. Contracts are like written promises to each other.

To avoid cheating and other illegal acts, contract law firm is there to help you in all stuffs related to contracts.

Smile

First thing that I notice in a person that I meet is their face. Second is their smile. For me, the face is the most important part of our body. Maybe because it’s because our brain is located there? And eyes? And nose? And mouth? And ears? And more other stuff?

Anyways, smile is really important. A person who doesn’t smile would be thought as a snob or masungit by others. When you smile, obviously you show out your teeth right? So teeth is really important too. Who wants teeth full of cavities anyways? That is way way gross. Or super yellow teeth because of smoking and drinking beer or alcohol?

We have to take good care of our teeth. We have only 1 kind of teeth for every type. When one is rotten, there would not be another tooth that would replace that tooth. So we have to brush our teeth at least two times a day, go to the San Diego dentist at least once every six months for a dental check up.

In our Economics class, I learned a lot about the economy, businesses, and advertisements.

There are lots of advertisements used. There is the television advertisement, the billboards, posters, and of course, advertisements in the internet.

Advertisements catch the attention of the buyers, but that is not enough. Comapanies have to gain the trust of the people so that they would buy their product. There are several methods available for use. They could use the bandwagon type, the scary type, the testimonials type and the facts type.

Testimonials are one solid evidence that their product really works. That is why companies often collect testimonials from their customers and post it in their advertisements.

Testimonials prove that indeed, their product does work. By the way, have you heard of Amerisave? If not, visit the Amerisave blog and see all the testimonials that they have for you. And prove that their service is really the best of the best.

Social Sites

There are tons of social networking sites available nowadays. There’s Friendster, Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, target, hi-5 and many more. I remember that when I was still in grade five or grade six, I already had an account in these sites!

I couldn’t help but join because almost all of my friends had an account. So I just made one anyways. These kind of sites help you meet people online. I have got to known many people online through blogging and social networking sites. Up to now, my friendster account is still alive and kicking. Though I don’t really log-in there frequently.

I used to have a Facebook and MySpace account too. But it wasn’t really that popular here in the Philippines compared to Friendster. Oh well, I am more interested in blogging and website making anyways. Oh yeah, speaking of these social networking sites, please do visit Jon M Queen’s MySpace account if you have time. He’s interested in making lots of friends online.

Material Things

Am currently reading the book titled “Tuesday’s with Morrie” by Mitch Albom.

It’s really a nice and short book. So I recommend you guys to read it.

So what about material things?

The book implies that the world keeps saying that money is what’s important. Our culture stuck that in our minds. We unconsciously think about it.

We all know that we can’t bring anything to heaven when we die. Material things are just temporary. But, why do we still value the wrong things? We value money, work, fame, fortune, power, over family, friends, and love. We live in the conformity of today’s world.

I am guilty of these things. I used to think that material things and money compose and fulfill my life. I used to buy things that I want and not need. I found joy in having those things. I expected the things to hug me back, to love me. Now, I realize that nothing can compare or replace the love of our family and friends.

Using material things to uplift your social standing.. There is no use in comparing your status or social standing to other people. If you compare yourself to the people above, and try to imitate them by buying the latest sports car, etc., they would still look down to you. And if you compare and boast your status to the lower people, they would just envy you. Be contented with who you are and stop being who you are not. Buying extravagant & expensive things and being a social climber would be living a meaningless life.

So here I am, trying to change little by little. Thanks to the inspiration of the book I’m reading.

Friends Forever

“Friends forever” is such a cliche. Perhaps it lost it’s meaning already.

Friends always say “Friends forever ah” or “Walang limutan”. Come on, do they always mean what they say? I myself say that often. But come to think of it, I’m not quite sure whether I can keep those friendships forever.

I’ve had a lot of best friends already. My preschool to grade 1 best friend transferred to another school. Since then, we haven’t really talked that much. My grade 2-4 best friends don’t talk to me anymore. We’re not enemies. We just don’t mind each other anymore when we see each other in school. My grade 5-6 best friends transferred to another school. And yeah, like before, we seldom talked and we lost our closeness with each other.

Presently, I have a big group of friends that I hang-out with at school. I wonder if they’ll be like my past friendships. Hopefully not.

I just can’t help and think. Would they be there when I need them in the future? Would we still be close enough to talk or laugh like there’s no tomorrow? I know that each of us has our own life to deal with. After graduating high school, we’ll be walking seperate ways.

I hate accepting the fact that the people that I told “friends forever” or “walang limuatan”, the people that I once called my friends, are now far away from me. I didn’t do much effort in chasing or repairing our friendship. I just decided to simply let go of them.

And so, I promise that I’ll treasure my current friends. I won’t be allowing the same thing to happen again.

Sure it would be hard, but I’ll try my best to be a good friend to all of them even when we part ways.

Maybe in the future, I’ll be able to say “friends forever” with all sincerity to my friends that I truly love.

Solution for Every Problem

Is there a solution for every problem? Many people believe that there’s a solution for every problem. There are lots of quotes that imply on that thought.

Pondering upon this question, I have been able to think of my own belief. I believe that not all problems have solutions. Think of the possible problems that don’t really have a solution.

Problems like the lack of money (poverty) or cancer (death) don’t always have solutions. I know that these examples are superficial, but that’s how I perceive it.

God gives us problems not because he wants us to suffer. He wants us to learn and be strong for ourselves. That’s one of the things that differentiates us with animals.

I remember the quote in the movie A Walk to Remember

Without suffering, there won’t be passion.

Hm.. Maybe all problems have solutions. That’s why they’re called problems. But in finding the solution, there would be another problem that would sprout out. So it would be difficult to solve and end that problem. Poverty for example, the government has plenty of solutions for that. Still, poverty is still prominent in the third world countries. Get my point? Sorry if you got confused. LOL.

So, in your opinion, does every problem have a solution?
